The Perspective

New Beginnings

This last year has been one for the books.  Business is booming, I sold a house, bought a house, got a divorce, sold a house, remodeled a new house and here I am.  I feel as if the dust from the chaos is still swirling around me, but I survived. I battled depression, loss and grief. My heart blossomed and I have found my independence and am doing this adult life solo.  Personally, I really like it.  Something I was afraid of, is now not so scary.

I am looking back at 2018 as probably one of the worst and best years of my life.  Transitions are HARD.  They cause you to grow and force you to change, two very uncomfortable things. Growth never comes easy, and when it does come, you need to accept it. The faster you do, the sooner you can grow.  Sometimes these checkpoints in life, such as New Years, really help with needed growth. They allow you to have a mental break and create a new beginning for yourself.  Allowing yourself to set aside the past and push forward with a fresh start.

I have lived for 30 years, which means 30 NEW YEARS and a lot of failed new year resolutions. This year, I am not making any.  This year, I am going to keep my mind on the tracks of healing and growing.  I am not looking at 2019 as a fresh start, but every single day as a new beginning. Everyday is an opportunity to create the change you need or have been wanting in your life.  If you waste a day, so what, you have tomorrow.  I think truly, the sooner we stop holding onto the past, the sooner we can look forward to the future.

God was smart when he made the world spin and create days full of light and nights full of dark filled with rest.  Regardless of what you believe, one way to look at new beginnings is to actually look for them and then create them.  Everyday the sun comes out to greet your little cheeks, allow that to be the new opportunity you need to be or do something new.

Happy New Year, don’t just make this year great, but allow yourself to make every day better.
